By now the NFL has to realize if the NFL players don’t stop kneeling during the national anthem and disrespecting the flag soon, they will continue to lose thousands of fans and millions of dollars in revenue from ticket sales to merchandise. That’s a given. But I’m sure the NFL wasn’t expecting to hear this from President Trump.
In a brief discussion with reporters at The White House this morning, Trump pulled no punches urging “the toughest possible travel ban”and then took a serious swing at The NFL once again warning:
“I think The NFL is in a box, the only thing that is doing well for the NFL is the pre-game…
They can’t have people disrespecting the national anthem. The NFL has to change or their business is going to go to hell.”
It appears ‘change’ is happening…
Just one week after many members of the Patriots kneeled during the national anthem, a new report indicates that they will all stand together as a team next time out.
Trump says Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones promised him America’s Team will stand for the National Anthem:‘Jerry is a winner who knows how to get things done.
H/T Zero Hedge
President Trump is right. The NFL is a business.
But the real question is how long are they going to allow this absurdity to affect their business?
Ticket holders across all social media outlets can be seen everywhere burning their tickets and/or their merchandise.
DirecTV is allowing customers who purchased ‘Sunday Ticket’, an NFL package, refunds for their subscriptions due to the national anthem protests. That’s about $280 a pop!
Owners need to realize that the public’s tolerance for these overpaid players protesting during our national anthem is much, much lower than they expected.
Sadly, even the Dallas Cowboys, once known as ‘America’s team’ were booed after their owner, Jerry Jones allowed his players to ‘take a knee’ as a sign of unity before the national anthem started. They got up before the anthem started.
“I just feel so strongly that the act of recognizing the flag is a salute to our country and all of the people that have sacrificed so that we can have the liberties we have,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in 2016. “I feel very strongly that everyone should save that moment for the recognition of the flag in a positive way, so I like the way the Cowboys do it.”
Trump is right when he said, NFL owners should have the right to tell players to take a hike! Period.
On the other hand, people can and should have the right to protest. THAT is NOT the issue.
Americans don’t want to see overpaid NFL players protesting during the national anthem or the football game. A game they tuned into watch for enjoyment or entertainment. If the NFL players want to protest, they need to do it on their OWN time, not while they are employed or on the job!
Yes, business owners or the NFL will change or it will NOT exist! Period.
As these NFL player protests continue it won’t be only the viewers and consumers that take their money elsewhere, it will also be patriots and advertisers like CEO Allan Jones, as well.
“Our companies will not condone unpatriotic behavior” in the NFL, Jones said in a statement. Jones, who has been a big supporter of President Trump, ordered his media buyer — ad agency Tombras Group in Knoxville — to pull all ads for Check Into Cash, Buy Here Pay here USA, or U.S. Money Stores from all NFL games “for the entire season.”
“If you will research why Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner you will realize why I am upset about these NFL players protesting. They don’t even know what it is they are protesting,” Jones lamented. “The flag was still standing. 200 English ships tried to take it down. They kept it up all night and it could only be seen when the bombs were bursting in the air. So many patriots gave their lives to keep the flag up — and now to have people protesting who don’t have a clue about any of this bothers me.”
“Our companies will not condone unpatriotic behavior!” he added. “TAKING A STAND … NOT A KNEE!”
It’s time we all took a stand!
