The NFL’s anti-American protests are getting out of hand.
Players are disrespecting the flag with racially motivated demonstrations.
But now anti-American protesters have crossed the line into an act of treachery, stabbing every veteran and their family in the back.
The Miami Dolphins played the New Orleans Saints in London, England.
It was a horrendous game marred by poor plays and hideous offenses where both teams looked barely interested in playing.
But the most notable thing about the contest was that three Miami Dolphin players knelt for the national anthem, but stood at attention for God Save the Queen – England’s national anthem.
The New York Post reports:
NFL SUNDAY KICKED OFF IN LONDON WITH MORE KNEELING DURING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM, AS PRESIDENT TRUMP CONTINUES TO ADMONISH PLAYERS WHO DON’T STAND FOR THE FLAG.
THREE MIAMI DOLPHINS PLAYERS WERE SPOTTED TAKING A KNEE ON THE SIDELINE DURING THE SINGING OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM: KENNY STILLS, MICHAEL THOMAS AND JULIUS THOMAS.
THE THREE KNEELED SIDE-BY-SIDE AT ONE OF THE SIDELINES WHILE THE REST OF THEIR TEAM STOOD FOR THE ANTHEM.
MEANWHILE, THE OPPOSING TEAM, THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS, TOOK A UNIFIED KNEE ON THE SIDELINES BEFORE THE GAME BUT ROSE IN TIME FOR THE ANTHEM.
MANY OF THE SAINTS LINKED ARMS AS GRAMMY-WINNING ARTIST DARIUS RUCKER SANG THE ANTHEM IN WEMBLEY STADIUM, THE FIRST TELEVISED GAME OF THE DAY ON FOX.
Patriotic Americans were appalled by this display.
When Americans travel to foreign soil, they are expected to leave politics on home soil – especially when they are representing an institution like the NFL which is seen as uniquely American.
Instead, the pampered millionaires sent a message to the world that they will continue to spit on the graves of veterans who fought and died for their freedoms.
NFL teams have claimed their demonstrations are about “unity.”
But a demonstration of unity for international audiences would have been all members of both teams standing for the national anthem.
That would have demonstrated that no matter our political differences, Americans can unify around the values and ideals the flag represents.
Having every player stand for our anthem would’ve shown the world that Americans can put aside their differences for a few minutes to honor the lives of those who make our freedom possible.
But throwing an anti-American temper tantrum is more important than projecting to the world that while we have our differences at home, Americans will stand as one on foreign soil.
It was a shameful display that only added to the NFL’s ratings problems.
The game between the Dolphins and Saints was the lowest rated 9:30am telecast from London in NFL history.
Continuing protests will only serve to further erode the NFL’s fan base and their ratings.
