Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin, could soon find himself behind bars for up to two years for sending sexual messages and photos to a 15-year-old girl.
Slated to be sentenced, roughly four months after he pleaded guilty to “a single charge of transferring obscene material to a minor,” as reported at the time by the New York Post, Weiner had hoped to convince the judge he’s a reformed man who deserves a break.
Speaking before the judge presiding over Weiner’s case Wednesday, however, government prosecutors recommended the former Democrat congressman’s claims be disregarded in light of the fact he issued similar claims after his previous sexting scandals.
His past history of lies and distortions “suggests a dangerous level of denial and lack of self-control,” they said, as reported by the Associated Press.
“The defendant did far more than exchange typed words on a lifeless cellphone screen with a faceless stranger,” they added. “Transmitting obscenity to a minor to induce her to engage in sexually explicit conduct by video chat and photo is far from mere ‘sexting.’ Weiner’s criminal conduct was very serious, and the sentence imposed should reflect that seriousness.”
It’s hard to disagree with this logic given Weiner’s sick actions, which reportedly involved him convincing his 15-year-old female victim to strip and fondle herself on the chat platform Skype.
During an interview with “Inside Edition” earlier this month, Weiner’s victim described how her online conversation quickly devolved: “I just sent him a nice message, ‘Hello, I’m a huge fan,’” she said, adding that it didn’t take long for the conversation to become obscene. “I knew that it was going downhill really fast.”

“I was disgusted,” she added. “That’s part of the reason I came forward.”
The age of his victim is an even bigger reason why Weiner deserves to rot in prison for at least two years, though in an ideal world he’d remain behind bars for two decades instead.
Actually, in a truly ideal world, Clinton would be headed to prison as well, given that thousands of her emails — all of them presumably addressed to Abedin and sent illicitly from a private email address on a personal server during Clinton’s tenure at the State Department — were found on Weiner’s laptop earlier this year.
As far as I’m concerned, Clinton and Weiner — and perhaps Abedin as well — are two peas in a pod of corruption and shadiness. As such, they should both be in a jail cell.
