Trump: I’m ‘disappointed’ in the Justice Department after Clinton disclosures

news, politics

President Trump said Friday he’s “disappointed” in the Justice Department and urged the agency to investigate Democrats, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta.

“I like to let it run itself,” Trump said of the Department of Justice. “Honestly, they should be looking at the Democrats. They should be looking at Podesta and all of that dishonesty. They should be looking at a lot of things. A lot of people are disappointed in the Justice Department, including me.”

Trump spoke to reporters outside the White House before departing on an 11-day trip to Asia.

The president has made similar comments about the Justice Department before and has criticized Attorney General Jeff Sessions for recusing himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Trump’s comments on the Justice Department follow revelations from former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile, who accused Clinton in a new book of taking over the DNC’s finances and operations to ensure Bernie Sanders lost the nomination.

The president has frequently argued the Justice Department should be investigating Clinton and the Democratic National Committee, including on Twitter on Friday morning.

“Everybody is asking why the Justice Department (and FBI) isn’t looking into all of the dishonesty going on with Crooked Hillary & the Dems. New Donna B book said she paid for and stole the Dem Primary. What about the deleted E-Mails, Uranium, Podesta, the Server, plus, plus,” Trump said in a series of tweets. “People are angry. At some point the Justice Department and the FBI must do what is right and proper. The American people deserves it!”
