The 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, has been riddled with political drama as Shani Davis suggested the coin toss determining who would carry the U.S. flag was racist and Adam Ripponwent after Mike Pence several times and refused to meet with him despite Pence’s outspoken support.
Gus Kenworthy, a skier for Team USA, tweeted out a picture on Sunday before the closing ceremony and took the opportunity to rip on Ivanka Trump, who was attending to lead the U.S. delegation:
So proud of all these people! Everybody here has worked so hard to make it to the Olympics and have the opportunity to walk in the closing ceremony! Well… Everyone except Ivanka. Honestly, tf is she doing here?? pic.twitter.com/sfJKi0VTDb

However, not everyone had that attitude. Lauren Gibbs, a brakeman for the USA national women’s bobsled team, met Ivanka and Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who was also in attendance for the opening ceremony and had a different approach.
She took a selfie and explained, “It’s important to remember that we don’t have to agree on everything to get along, be civil to each other and enjoy each others company”:

“It was a pleasure to meet you both,” Gibbs stated.
Gibbs also responded to hateful replies by saying, “I am not falling for anything…but being nasty to them would not solve the issue…and don’t get me wrong there are many issues.”
She told another user, “Turning this into a Democrat vs republican “thing” isn’t the answer it’s part of the problem.”
Refreshing to see.
