It isn’t very often that prominent celebrities in Hollywood openly talk about their Christian faith. There are a few different reasons for that. Primarily, actors and actresses know that their careers can be hurt for speaking out about religion and we all know that demonizing Christianity is something the liberal media loves doing.
Chris Pratt has made it clear that he doesn’t care what the liberal media thinks. He has been wearing his Christian faith on his sleeve for a long time. Unfortunately, that makes him a target for angry liberals.
Well-known director Kevin Smith recently suffered a massive heart attack and Chris Pratt politely reached out and let Kevin know he was thinking about him.
A nice gesture, right?
Not according to the liberal trolls out there.
Chris Pratt took to social media Monday to urge his followers to pray for Kevin Smith after the filmmaker suffered a serious heart attack Sunday night — only to be attacked by commenters who mocked the actor and questioned whether prayer was an effective way to respond to the health scare.
But several of Pratt’s followers quickly blasted the star, comparing his call for prayer to politicians who have sent “thoughts and prayers” to the victims of recent school shootings.
“WTF is praying going to do?” wrote one commenter. “Wise up! He’s in hospital, science is the best place for him, diet change and exercise. Not random thoughts by you or anyone else.”
“Healing power of prayer? This is a parody right?” wrote another.
The comments were among several by users who slammed Pratt for his initial tweet.
Hard to believe that there are people out there so unhinged that they can’t tolerate people praying for each other.
Here’s more on Kevin Smith’s condition…
From USA Today:
Smith, 47, shared a photo on Twitter from what appeared to be a hospital bed early Monday morning, writing that he suffered “a massive heart attack” after his first comedy show Sunday. The Clerks writer-director was scheduled for two shows at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, Calif, according to the venue’s website.
“The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka “the Widow-Maker”),” Smith wrote on Twitter. “If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!”
The LAD, or left anterior descending artery, is the largest of the three arteries supplying blood to the heart.
Why is it called the “widowmaker?” According to the University of Michigan’s Frankel Cardiovascular Center website, a blockage as severe as Smith’s starves the heart muscle of oxygen, triggering an abnormal heart rhythm, possibly leading to cardiac arrest, a situation where seconds mean the difference between survival and death.
A serious situation and you have to imagine that Kevin Smith appreciates any positive vibes being sent his way.
Shame on anyone who would take issue with praying for the sick. We should be able to do better than that.
