JUST IN: Barack Obama reemerged on Friday to try and act like he is still president.
Since leaving office, Obama has been making the rounds of the paid speaking circuit, where he is making well over six figures per speech. On Friday, Obama is set to speak at a sports analytics conference hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Boston Globe reported that Obama will be speaking at the 12th annual MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Other speakers at the event include Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca; NBA Commissioner Adam Silver; former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez; MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred; Laura Froelich, the global head of sports partnerships at Twitter; and FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver.
A newsletter said that the former president “will discuss his time in office and the next chapter of his life.” Of course, he will undoubtedly also use the appearance to bash President Donald Trump, as he has not missed a single opportunity to try and make the current president look bad.
This comes after Obama took to Twitter to encourage young gun control activists to continue to rise up against Trump.
“Young people have helped lead all our great movements,” Obama wrote on Twitter, according to Time. “How inspiring to see it again in so many smart, fearless students standing up for their right to be safe; marching and organizing to remake the world as it should be. We’ve been waiting for you. And we’ve got your backs.”
